Our Teachers
Our teachers take a very active role in teaching their students,
and enjoy having the opportunity to learn about the students
as individuals. Although surprising to some, our teachers have
shared that they get to know their students better in our online
setting than they did when teaching in a traditional school. In most
cases, the teachers’ interactions with students are one-on-one.
We have gifted and special education teachers on staff as well,
enabling us to provide individualized instruction for special
needs students. Our teachers are highly qualified and
Pennsylvania certified in their subject area.
Our guidance counselors offer a vital support system for
our students with both academic and personal issues. The
counselors are available during the day and also have evening
hours Monday through Thursday. The Guidance Department
sponsors college visits, assists with college and scholarship
applications, and helps students find summer programs that
support their interests. Our guidance counselors communicate
with each student to create an academic schedule that addresses
individual needs in addition to graduation requirements.
Frequent communication is essential, as we have found it
significantly contributes to student success. While email is our
primary communication tool, we also contact students and
parents by telephone. Our teachers regularly communicate
with families during non-traditional hours to ensure consistent
communication with the students and their parents. As some
students work predominantly later in the day, our teachers
have evening office hours. Each teacher is available at least one
evening per week to communicate with students and parents.
Monday through Thursday evenings there is at least one
teacher available in each subject area to help students with
any questions they may have.
Personal communication is one of the things that sets us apart
from other cyber schools. Our students are important to us.
The better we know them, the better we can serve them.
