21CCCS teachers work together from our office in Exton, individualizing the curriculum to suit individual student learning styles and varying academic levels. Our teachers developed the curriculum based upon the Pennsylvania standards and teach the core subject classes and most electives. All of our classes are designed to help prepare students for the next phase of their lives, whether that be continuing their education or joining the workforce. Most classes are available in a variety of ability levels, including Honors, Gifted, and Advanced Placement (AP). Qualified students may also take online college courses, or take classes at their local college or university. Our classes have a posted syllabus and the students are guided in their progress. In general, work can be completed any time of the day during the week. Students use the Internet to access their classes, check in with their teachers with questions or for feedback on their work, and they can easily do this from any location with an Internet connection. 21CCCS classes use a traditional textbook, as well as having access to an online version of the text. Many students enjoy having a textbook, which allows them to work while offline and gives them a break from the computer. We also provide a printer and scanner, and other hardware such as a digital camera or a graphic tablet when needed for a specific class. To help students stay focused, blocking and tracking software may be used to remove access to sites that could be distracting. Live webcasts, sometimes called “virtual classrooms,” are very popular with students. In this real time setting our teacher can provide direct instruction, review instructional materials, and demonstrate how to solve problems. Students interact through a chat room to ask and answer questions and participate in group discussions, and they can speak to the teacher and the class using the built-in microphone. The webcasts are recorded, so students who cannot attend the live event can view it at their convenience. Home
